Fiona Turner

Firstly we would like to extend a warm welcome to Fiona Turner – RCDA in the Central Region. Click on the link on our Home Page to read a little about Fiona.

Pampered Chef Fundraiser

Ann and her daughter Sue would like to say a huge thank you to all who attended their Pampered Chef party. It was a fun night during which we managed to raise £101.81 in sales comission, £22 from the raffle and £5 in donations. If you are not familiar with the Pampered Chef why not take a look at the website www.pamperedchef.com and organise a party of your own? Remember to ask for a Fundraiser Party if you wish to donate the profits to MNDA .

Barndances

As you will see from the photos we once again had a really good time at the Barndances in March and October.  They were well attended and great fun.  We have learnt the routine now and even managed to get the food plated up and ready just as the Band started up so the kitchen fairies could enjoy the dancing as well.

Summer Street Collections

Thanks to all who helped with the three street collections in the Summer. We all know that this is not the best way of spending a couple of hours on a Saturday but every penny in every tin is needed. So well done and thank you to all who took part.

Awareness Week

On the 23rd June Steven Halton guided our Awareness Week Walk and Andy sent out Sponsor Forms. The area chosen for the walk was Stockgrove Park and Kings Wood.  This is nice area with lots of different habitats and things to see.

AGM

At the recent AGM we had an interesting talk about the Help Line at National Office.  We also welcomed two new people on to the Committee.  Ray Anness has been our Treasurer for many years and asked to be allowed to stand down.  He has not been able to completely give up as he is now our Vice-Chairman and still a Volunteer Visitor.  His place has been taken by Tonderai Sekiwa.   Tonderai is studying accountancy at Luton University so helping us will also be helping him.  We also have a Publicity Officer, Wendy Currie.  Wendy lost her mother to MND last year and now wishes to help us to raise awareness.

From 1st May the Care Information Service, including the Helpline, became known as the MND Connect Team. Their new e-mail address is: mndconnect@mndassociation.org.  In September at the Association’s Annual Conference there was an official launch of MND Connect.
